Another week in the books. And plenty to talk about. With the season coming to an end teams are making their last push to try to find themselves in the conversation for the College Football Playoff.

Weekly Recap

Another upset is upon us my friends, well I’m not sure it’s an upset, but from what I saw it was a pretty good game. Baylor finally fell to OU at home this past weekend. OU managed to potentially knock Baylor out of the playoff picture and reinstated their name into the conversation. Staying within the conference Oklahoma State won their 10th straight game this season. Looking better than ever, OSU faces Baylor in a tough matchup this weekend. Good thing it’s a home game for the cowboys who are a pretty tough team to beat at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Ohio State remains unbeaten going into its final 2 games of the season. The remainder of the buckeyes schedule consist of MSU at home, and Michigan on the road. While the Buckeys are looking to defend their title, the Spartans are looking to wiggle their way to the top rankings, and the only way they can do that is defeating the buckeyes. On the eastern side of the Big 10 Iowa is running the tables only facing a poor purdue team this coming weekend. The Hawkeyes will most likely remain undefeated the remainder of the season giving them a legit chance at a playoff spot.

In the SEC there appears to be on clear favorite. Sadly that is Alabama; they have managed to pull away from everyone else in the SEC and are sitting in a category of their own. Henry is running the ball with conviction showing no mercy to opposing defenses. His counterpart at LSU Leanord Fournette has had little to no production in their previous opponents of Alabama and Arkansas. The disappointment of the losses forced LSU out of the playoff picture. While Florida has secured a position in the SEC championship game potentially playing Alabama for the conference title. They can cause catastrophe in the whole playoff picture which everyone would be shocked about. Personally id be one happy camper if Alabama managed to fall.

The Pac 12 has officially been eliminated from playoff contention, with Stanford being the hopeful of the whole conference, they would need a lot of help to find their way in the playoff picture. It’s sad to see because the Pac 12 plays pretty good football, I guess there is always next year

Finally the ACC is being controlled by Clemson as one could have predicted. With a pretty easy schedule to close out the season, look for their matchup with North Carolina in the conference championship. That game has always been a solid matchup and one im sure everyone would love to see. Pittsburg would be next in line if UNC manages to somehow lose their last 2 games of the season. But the way they have been playing ball this season I don’t expect to see this happen

Now the new rankings were released Monday evening and I must say I am not shocked at all. I have finally come to terms that Alabama will be in the standings no matter what. But it seems like the voters are really puling for Notre Dame to make it in as well. Which OKstate should be the 4th team in with the caliber of football they have been playing this year.

The current CFP top 10 look a little something like this:

1)      Clemson 10-0
2)      Alabama 9-1
3)      Ohio State 10-0
4)      Notre Dame 10-1
5)      Iowa 10-0
6)      Oklahoma State 10-0
7)      Oklahoma 9-1
8)      Florida 9-1
9)      Michigan State 9-1
10)  Baylor 8-1

My top CFP top 10 is similar with but I feel more accurate after close consideration

1)      Clemson 10-0
2)      Alabama 8-1
3)      Ohio State 10-0
4)      OkState 10-0
5)      Iowa 10-0
6)      Notre Dame 9-1
7)      Oklahoma 9-1
8)      Florida 9-1
9)      Michigan State 9-1
10)   Baylor 9-1
Memphis in Review

Another weekend another loss, the Tigers have lost some rhythm after losing to navy 2 weeks ago. The tigers will want to win out this season to find themselves in a decent bowl game. With Temple and Smu remaing the tigers shouldn’t have a problem winning the remainder of the games,
Heisman Watch

A Small update to my Heisman standings. Based off of performance as an individual and overall team success.
1)      Derrick Henry- The dynamic playmaker for the crimson tide. Always reliable, and the reason Alabama still has a chance.
2)      Baker Mayfield- having a monster year for the Sooners, he led his team over an undefeated Baylor team
3)      Ezekiel Elliot- The third best running back in the NCAA and probably one of the most versatile. A threat in the pass and ground game he is definitely a candidate.
4)      Leanord Fournette- The current leading rusher and heart and soul of the LSU offense. For obvious reasons finding his way to the top of my list

Recruiting Spotlight

Kyle Davis (WR) Archer High School, Lawrenceville, Ga
This kid has great size and hands, he runs crisp clean routes and can track the ball through the air. His athleticism makes up for his average 4.63 40 speed but standing at 6’3’’ he makes a great outside downfield receiver. Currently uncommitted, some of his choices are Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Ohio State and more.

News Updates

Rumors arose that Charlie Strong was in line for the Miami head coaching position. He held a press conference to diffuse these rumors and put them to rest. Not a day later did the athletic department say that if Strong left that they are more than prepared to make an offer to Nick Saban to have him as the head coach. It almost seems that the fans and athletic department want to rush strong out of town, the man hasn’t even been there 2 years and hasn’t had a full recruiting class touch the field yet. Give him time and the organization will be fine.
