Baylor Football In Trouble

Baylor Bear Football
What lies ahead for the program

As we all now know; Baylor’s football program is under fire after deep investigation of sexual assault allegations being brushed under the rug by both the football program and the University itself. Literally taking years to be addressed. The first question we may ask is why did it take so long for these to surface? As a private Christian university you would think that they wouldn’t take these matters lightly, on the other hand it took them years to establish a Title XI coordinator after it became mandatory that all colleges have one on campus. (For those who don’t know what Title IX is it’s an educational amendment that provided equal opportunities for all students regardless of gender). Baylor has failed their students by enabling these athletes to get away with sexual assault, and the football program failed by not punishing these athletes all so the winning tradition can stay alive and the university doesn’t catch some bad publicity. Well that all came tumbling down, I'm not going to go into detail about the investigate but this is what I will say

Ken Starr – Out as president and demoted to Chancellor of the University

Ian McCaw – Sanctioned and Suspended (but still has a job)

Art Briles – Fired as head coach

Now these are just 3 of the major players who were punished and I’m sure there is more to come, more specifically let’s take a look at how the program has been affected.

The program has lost 4-5 commits already

Guys who have already signed are wanting to get out of their letters in intent

There is uncertainty on if guys will stay or transfer

News has yet to surface on if the program will face any losses of scholarships or bowl bans etc...

Current players are frustrated with the firing of their head coach as well as many other former players

Was the lack of suspensions & discipline worth the destruction of a storied program? Was the well-being of those students who were attacked by players worth losing all that was built? The truth always comes to the light, it’s just a matter of time. And to the players who weren’t involved I feel deeply sorry for any backlash you may face.
